  • Ok apparently not many people use Xanga.  I like the layout alot but it is a bit hard to get pics on here.  None of mine seem to be the right size or they just don't upload for some reason.  Also, I'm not getting any visitors (except for 2 friends - thanks Dodi and Marshall).  For these reasons I will be ending my account here in the next week or so.  I have moved to Yahoo Blog Spot if you would like to find me there:  http://cajuncrochet.blogspot.com/

    Thanks,

    Donna

  • Biloxi was great!  Enjoyed the time with family.  I even had fun with my dad.  He was in his element and that made for a good time.  We sat in the hot tub, played in the pool and on the beach.  Dad gave my brother, sister-in-law and me each a comp. meal at the Beau Rivage buffet while he and my mom watched our kids.  Thats a total of 6 kids!  Three of them teens!  That in itself was a great treat.

Biloxi had a crawfish festival starting the day we were to leave so we decided to stay a little longer and go to the fair.  I really enjoyed watching the kids have so much fun on the rides.  We made it home around 12:00 a.m.  and got in bed around 3:00 a.m.

Well, back to reality and started school back today.  I feel like it's time for another break already and more crawfish.  I wonder if I could ever get enough?  I guess I would get tired of it after awhile but I would love to see how much it would take for that.

Now don't dat look good sha?

  • Yummmmeeeeee

Yes!  I got me some crawfish!  Thanks so much Marshall!

I had a great Easter and it is still going.  Friday was spent with great friends and family celebrating my sisters "over the hill" birthday we had BBQ and played games.  We played a little game where my brother would hit the ball and the rest of us would try to catch it.  I used to be so good at softball.  Now, I throw my knee out trying to run and catch the ball.  It was pathetic.  I wish my body was as young as my mind.

Saturday was nice too.  I spent it with the hubby, kids and my brothers family trying to catch some crawfish and playing around in a couple of swamps. There are some pics in my Photostrip.  We caught a total of ZERO crawfish but had a blast anyway.

Easter Sunday was spent with family at my mom and dads eating and shooting the breeze. We also celebrated my brothers birthday (not quite over the hill yet but getting close).

My girls spent the night with their cousins so Monday was nice and quiet all day.  Hubby at work; girls away. Yeah!  Very nice and quiet.  I didn't do much of anything just rested.  When I went to pick the girls up I was asked to join in a birthday crawfish boil at my brothers.  His friend Marshall treated us all to that!  It was great.  I'm planning the next boil soon.

Tuesday-Thursday the girls and I and my brother and his family will be spending some time in Biloxi, MS. with my mom and dad. My dad likes to play the slots, we like to swim in the pool and play on the beach.  This time he has 3 rooms for 2 nights free and invited us all to go.  Hubby has to work; I wish he would take some time off and come with us.

I hope everyone else is having as great a time as I am.

Thank you Jesus for the love you showed me by going to the cross!

  • Blanket

The blanket is coming along slowly but surely.  My life has been so busy lately that I don't have the time to work on it as I would like to.  Besides being busy, we have had many beautiful long days.  Who wants to stay inside on days like that?

The top picture is the side that Cherie likes.  The bottom picture is the side I like.  I decided to connect the squares by using sc.  I like the way is raises the squares on one side and leaves the other side smooth.  Cherie likes the idea that it is reversible with 2 different looks.

The dark color is purple.  The camera doesn't do it justice but it really looks great.  Cherie picked out the colors and told me where to place them.  Her most favorite color is purple so I was surprised when she picked purple for the corner pieces instead of for the 5 squares.  I think she did a great job of picking out colors and placement.  She also picked out the pattern.  I would have thought she would want a more exciting or different pattern but nope, she liked the simplicity of this one.  She thinks I'm working too slow.  She wants it ready now.

I know it's not up to good crochet standards but for my first one I think it's pretty good.  The most important thing is that my daughter thinks it's beautiful.

I'm still not sure what I will do for the trim.  She wants it as a bedspread so it will have some kind of ruffle to reach the floor.  I'm getting anxious to see it on her bed too.

    Yall have a blessed day!

P.S. Nope, still haven't gotten any crawfish: not even as donations.  (sigh)  I will survive but oh how much more enjoyable life would be with a crawfish boil!

  • Kitchen Spongie Pattern

I have tried making sponges from other peoples patterns but have not found one that worked best for me, so I tried my hand at my own pattern.  I love these "spongies".  I could not find a picture of one I just finished so I got a picture of the one I have been using for the past four months.  The color is very faded but it is still holding up very nicely.  I hate the idea of bought sponges because of all the bactiera they hold and they just tare up in the wash. This "spongie" foams up nicely and I wash it every other day.
